Recorded
for Swiss Radio in Lausanne, Switzerland, in October of 1976. This is an
original 1978 release from Japan. Includes an insert with notes in Japanese!
First press on Victor.
Recorded
in 1976, but not released until 1978 and only in Japan. This record is
astonishingly good. Truly a beast of a free jazz-post bop session that
features Max Roach on Drums, Billy Harper on Tenor (who's solo at
the beginning of side two reaffirms my belief that he is one of the greatest Tenor players of all
time), Cecil Bridgewater on Trumpet and Reggie Workman on Bass.
Enjoy!
If
you find it, buy this album!

Many thanks - Fantastic! Been looking for a lossless version of this for ages. Now, if you also have "The Loadstar" and "Confirmation" you will make one Greek jazz fan very happy indeed!
ReplyDeleteSoon.
DeleteVitko, much thanks, I love Billy Harper. Nice birthday present for me today !
ReplyDeleteChris.
Well, happy birthday Chris :)
DeleteA great one, thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteSomehow I did not pay much attention to his 70's period, apart from the M'Boom lp, but sure this group is on fire. Seems like that other recordings from this Quartet (Live in Tokyo or Amsterdam) are quite hard to find.
Thank You!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm still injoing Max and Taylor...
:))
Thanks Vitko. Love Billy Harper!
ReplyDeleteMany many thanks, Vitko! Really masterpiece!
ReplyDeleteCan't say THANK YOU enough - this one was on my must find list and I've been looking for a good while -
ReplyDeleteVitko, thank you !!
ReplyDeleteMax and Billy Harper are Giants
Many thanks for this lossless rip : always a great pleasure to get yours !!
ReplyDeleteThanks vitko. I saw this band in New Orleans many years ago (Pope, not Harper, on tenor). Bridgewater was on fire that night. He remains one of the great under-recorded talents of the late 20th-early 21st centuries.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot!!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant !! Many thanks for keeping this alive, most appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, it is wonderful!
