The
label (PGP RTB) has used oportunity to invite some foreign musicians during their visit
to Belgrade to do a recording jam-session with a local jazz musicians and here
are the results. All of them are now established names. Bosko Petrovic at that
time was a student but was already leading his trio and Zagreb Jazz Quartet.
Davor Kajfes was another member of ZJQ. All foreign guests this time came to
Belgrade in 1960 with Quincy Jones band.
The
most obscure group in this great 3-volume Meetings In Studio series -- a
session that features work by an all-Eastern European jazz ensemble from 1961
-- Borislav Rokovic on piano, Joe Sydow on bass, Hans Hoitz on drums, Milan
Stojanivic on tenor and flute, and Vojislav Djonovic on guitar. Tracks are
short and tight -- nicely grooving in a laidback way that recalls some of the
hipper RCA jazz sessions of the mid 50s.
Enjoy!

Vitko :
ReplyDeleteMany Thanks! These look good!
i'm local but i don't have 2nd and 3rd meeting! so thanks! a lot!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCheers, brian.
DeleteYes - this is a great share! Saw these EPs on the Cosmic Sounds wep-page.
ReplyDeleteBut it's hard to order from them.
Nice communication but I had to wait about six months when I've ordered a CD from Tone Jansa.
Maybe I should try it once again at Cosmic Sounds. They have some Dusko Goykovich which I have on cd-r but I prefer mostly - as far as possible - a proper release.
Thank you very much, Vitko.
Will try to listen during the week-end - shall come back here with some words about the music.
The third EP is my favourite one - Bora Rokovic is my man here.
DeleteBut the first tune from the first EP with Jerome Richardson on tenor is a treasure as well.
All in all I enjoy all three vinyl's - thanks once more Vitko for these rather obscure but very enjoyable recordings!
Yes, another interesting experience more.
DeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteA pure miracle ! Thank you, Vitko !
ReplyDeleteThanks Vitko. I DL the three albums last weekend and listened to them in the car during the week. Great music. Never came across these records in Belgium. It seems there is still a lot (for me) to discover about Jazz in (former) Yougoslavia.
ReplyDeleteCheers
All the best, boogieman
DeleteYes, what a great share.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
Strava
ReplyDeleteThanks Vitko!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is brilliant, I am thrilled !!!
(Ovo je genijalno, ja sam oduševljen!!!)
That's something, I guess, from your native land. Yes, a lot of good music, and today represents the true value for collectors.
DeleteAll the best Vojac :)
Thanks vitko. Interesting to hear Taylor and Richardson in this company.
ReplyDeletecould you repost for me ... crash!
ReplyDeleteOf course, brian. You just have to wait a few days, I will not be at home for the new year. When I come back, I promise.
DeleteHappy New Year !
Brian waits - as do a few others. Godot is waiting too!
ReplyDeleteFor a sophisticated society new links are coming tonight.
DeleteNew links are ready. You can find them above.
DeleteGood Listening.
By the way, with this charming word "waiting", so on three occasions,, you reminded me of the amazing live album Waiting For Columbus by the band Little Feat (2xLP - Warner Bros. Records - 2BS 3140) from 1978.
_____I strongly recommend.
Cheers!!!!!
Re-post Please.
